Introducing our exciting new Spanish wines
We are very excited to be introducing two additions to our wonderful wines from Spain.
Verdejo, Tres Pilares is a a high quality wine from the Tres Pilares winery in Rueda, n.w. of Madrid. Tres Pilares translates as Three Pillars and refers to the three brothers who established the winery. Their vineyards are located some 700 metres above sea level with rocky, stony soils, ideally suited to the Verdejo grape. The Verdejo grape is a favourite of ours, making characteristic vibrant, fresh and zesty whites, similar to Sauvignon Blanc in style and this example is packed full of refreshing citrus flavours.
Alvides Crianza, Ribero del Duero is an amazing, full bodied Tempranillo from the Alvides winery, run by the Casado Alvides family. Ribera del Duero, a wine region which rivals that of Rioja, producing some of Spains most highly regarded wines. Low yielding old vines grow along the slopes of the River Duero and the hot days and cool nights in this continental climate produce grapes with enhanced aromatics and colour. This example is like a Rioja on steroids! Dark, rich and oak aged with flavours of dark chocolate, vanilla and spice.
